The Cat in the Jar

product-details.description-label
From the Arctic to China to Egypt to America, Billy time travels to new adventures. A series about the pivotal moments of discovery through the ages, bringing the past to life with a generous helping of fantasy, humour and delightful black and white illustrations. For 7+ Billy is visited by the spirit of a mummified cat, who takes him to the Darwin museum's basement, where a boy lies in a box. His face is hidden by a golden mask. At breakfast, a boy is sitting in Billy's chair. His name is Tut and Billy introduces him to Charles Darwin the tortoise. Tut, who is actually Tutankhamun, has come for his cat and to ask for Billy's help evicting the unwanted spirit of Howard Carter from his royal tomb. Billy meets Howard, who tells him how he pilfered the tomb, along with jewelled scarabs, for wealth and fame. Worst of all, he bartered King Tut's cat, who would have led the pharaoh's soul to the spirit world. Instead the boy is trapped in his sarcophagus, whispering to Howard, reminding him of his crimes. Now he must face the consequences and Billy must help the masked pharaoh.
