The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods
Descripción
The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods, is a fairy tale about a princess cursed by an evil fairy to sleep for a hundred years before being awakened by a handsome prince. A good fairy, knowing the princess would be frightened if alone when she wakes, uses her wand to put every living person and animal in the palace and forest asleep, to awaken when the princess does.
The story of Sleeping Beauty is generally associated with the Brothers Grimm. However, they adapted the tale in 1812 from Charles Perrault's version, which was published in French in 1697. Perrault's version itself was adapted from a much older story, known as Perceforest, which is thought to have originated in the 14th century.

Sobre el autor:
Charles Perrault (1628–1703) was a French writer and a member of the French Academy. He laid the foundations for a new literary genre, the fairy tale, with his works derived from earlier folk tales, published in his Histoires ou contes du temps passé.
His most famous tales include Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty and Blue beard. Some versions of Perrault's older stories influenced the German versions published by the Brothers Grimm over 100 years later.
